Who We Are
The Private House is a curated hospitality platform connecting guests, property owners and professionals to deliver high-quality experiences inside private homes. We are not a staffing agency or catering company. Our professionals represent a consistent brand standard.
The Standard We Expect
- Arrive on time and prepared. Read the booking brief thoroughly beforehand.
- Be discreet and professional at all times. You are a guest in a private home.
- Communicate any issues or concerns with The Private House team — not with the guest directly.
- Present yourself in keeping with the setting: clean, composed, unhurried.
- Leave the space as you found it. The home should be immaculate on departure.
Communication
In the early phase, booking coordination happens primarily through WhatsApp. All guest-facing communication is managed by The Private House — professionals should not contact guests directly unless instructed.
Before Arrival
- Read your booking brief fully. Note the access method, parking and any entry instructions.
- Confirm your timing with The Private House no later than the day before.
- If sourcing ingredients, the brief will include the guest's dietary requirements and any preferences.
At the Property
- Introduce yourself simply and professionally. Do not discuss fee or booking details with guests.
- Treat every space as you would a client's home — with respect and careful attention.
- If anything is unclear or you encounter a problem, contact the TPH team immediately.
After the Experience
- Leave the kitchen and all surfaces clean and orderly. Remove waste if appropriate.
- Message the TPH team once the booking is complete and flag any notable points.
How Pricing Works
Experiences are sold to guests at a fixed price set by The Private House. Professionals are paid a separate professional fee agreed at the time of booking. Ingredient costs and travel expenses are reimbursed separately where applicable.
Your Professional Fee
- Fees are agreed individually per booking and confirmed in the booking brief.
- Your rate on file provides a starting guide. Rates may vary based on guest count, location and complexity.
- Fees are settled within 5 working days of the completed experience.
Expenses
- Ingredient shopping: submit receipts within 48 hours of the booking. Budget will be agreed in advance.
- Travel expenses: reasonable travel costs for bookings outside your base area are reimbursed. Confirm with TPH before booking travel.
The Experience
A relaxed start to the day hosted in the home. Freshly prepared breakfast, coffee and juices — with optional wellness if requested. Designed for 4–12 guests.
Your Role
- Arrive 45 minutes before the agreed start time to prepare and stage the space.
- Prepare fresh juices, coffee service and breakfast dishes according to the agreed brief.
- Set the table or surface appropriately — unhurried, arranged simply.
- If wellness is included, coordinate with the wellness practitioner on timing.
- Be present but unobtrusive throughout.
Guest Expectations
Guests expect a warm, relaxed experience — not a formal service. The tone should feel hosted and personal, not like a hotel breakfast.
The Experience
An early evening drinks reception with cocktails and small plates hosted inside the home. Typically 90 minutes to 2 hours. For 4–18 guests.
Your Role
- Arrive 60 minutes before guests arrive to prepare the bar setup and canapés.
- Create a signature cocktail and two to three additional options — brief will specify.
- Prepare 3–5 canapé varieties in agreed quantities. Present simply and elegantly.
- Host throughout — welcoming guests, refreshing drinks, presenting plates.
Tone & Presentation
Relaxed hospitality with a professional edge. Guests are in their own home — the tone should be warm and unforced, not formal or stiff.
The Experience
Seasonal dishes prepared and served for relaxed outdoor dining — suited to warm-weather stays. For 4–16 guests. Duration 2–3 hours.
Your Role
- Prepare all dishes in the home kitchen. The brief will include guest dietary notes.
- Menus should reflect the season — light, fresh and appropriate to outdoor dining.
- Assist with table setup outdoors if required. Coordinate with any front-of-house support.
- Serve courses at an unhurried pace suited to the outdoor setting.
Note on Weather
Have a simple contingency for indoor service if weather changes unexpectedly. Flag this with the TPH team in the briefing if uncertain.
The Experience
Preparing a stocked fridge, welcome provisions and pantry essentials before guests arrive. This is a pre-arrival service — guests do not interact with you directly.
Your Role
- Collect the provisions shopping list from the booking brief. Agree the budget beforehand.
- Shop from quality suppliers — good butcher, bakery, greengrocer where available.
- Stock the fridge cleanly and logically. Label any prepared items clearly with contents and date.
- Lay out the welcome provisions attractively — a small thoughtful arrangement, not fussy.
- Leave a simple handwritten or printed note if specified in the brief.
Timing
Complete at least 2 hours before the guests' stated arrival time. Retain all receipts for reimbursement.
The Experience
A multi-course dinner prepared and served within the home. The flagship experience — designed for 4–14 guests. Duration 3–4 hours including preparation and service.
Your Role
- Arrive at least 2 hours before the meal service begins. Confirm access and kitchen details in advance.
- The menu is agreed with the guest via TPH in the booking brief — no changes on the day without prior agreement.
- Prepare, plate and present each course from the kitchen. Front-of-house support may be assigned separately.
- Match the pace of service to the guests — read the room, don't rush.
Guest Expectations
Guests have booked a restaurant-quality experience in their own home. The food and presentation should reflect this. The tone, however, should remain warm and personal — not cold or performative.
